Really Alone, America

Sooz sent this link to the NYTimes and I concur that it is worth the read.

Freidman is seen as commentator on various "news and commentary" programs. He usually has information to share that reveals more than one surface of detail. In this case, he satirizes the situation in the Muddle East; maybe to a fault, but it still rings true.

There is something in the Ten Commandments (the version for WASPs like me) that states the sins of the father may be visited on up to four generations. The challenge here is to abandon generations of wrong thinking, on both sides. I see no indications such thought is being contemplated. Anywhere.

Meanwhile, according to Bill Mahr, the Department of Defense is soliciting ideas how to combat [the enemy] in Afghan environs. I am thinking that heat sensor scans [during winter] will reveal locations in potential combat zones as possible targets. Then, the cave thing may be able to affected through using new deep penetration ordinace above the suspected entrances. Gravity may be a friend through pulling down a mountainside over [their] rat-hole caves. Mining-like operations needed to clear critical locations will further create effective targeting.

Getting Rid of Afghanistan
[Altogether]
Should/might/could/may/would
imply/evidence/intricate/denote/sense
and does (in fact) mean that?

[Those involved] first recognize a need
 To eradicate Afghanistan as a cohesive and contiguous whole,
AND
 To create several city/state entities melded in the region anew
 [a singularity of self-perpetuating defensive posture].

Brought together out of the necessity of commonality, the new union would need to be bicameral, with Upper and Lower House provisions. Thus, for review of commerce regulation, and both Executive and Judicial review of enactments, initiations of administration are processed. But, individual representation within the republic is gained by two means: appointment and election.

 Appointments are demanded of the state;
To satisfy the "necessary utility" of environmental consideration;
To ensconce and satisfy patronage;
AND
To generate essential commerce traffic.

 Elections are demanded by the public:
To create the illusion of self-government,
To insure some manner of moral regeneration through laws,
AND
To define the regulation of commerce and justice, the Elected Officials review and endorse or reject Appointments. In balance to this power, Appointees regulate the processing of initiatives, and the logistical fulfillment of implicit orders. Effectively, one hand washes the other.
And what is so bad about that?
